Whale of a Time

Whales are the largest mammals that have ever lived on the blue planet. The Blue Whale for example is even larger than the largest dinosaurs. They are gigantic in size and weight, weighing up to 200 tones. We know today that some whale species can also reach significant age of over 200 years, that they have evolved over 18 millions years. Some whale species have a gestation period much longer than humans, thus a very slow reproduction rate, and they care for their young for many years. The whale species with the largest brain is the sperm whale, which measures the size of a car. The Blue Whale is the largest animal of all ever lived on the planet. Imagine, you can swim in their veins freely. Research shows that whales and dolphins are self-aware like humans. They pass on their own culture, dialects and whale songs. The Blue Whale can communicate over thousands of miles across the oceans of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Whale of a Time metaphorically refers to these great qualities of the whales. "Having a whale of a time" is an expression that derives its sense from this comparison - meaning having an extraordinary, great time! We believe that only if we enjoy what we are saving we can inspire others to do the same and to live a sustainable lifestyle and help to protect endangered species such as whales and many other species on Earth. Find out more about these beautiful sentient beings the great whales, and things you can do to protect our oceans, bees, rainforests and more and have a whale of a time!
Whale of a Time is riding the wave of change, promoting successful stewardship of our planet to create a peaceful, morally just, humane and sustainable culture, while ensuring survival of all species and their natural habitats. Whale of a Time organises creative and fun, inspiring and empowering events on environmental issues to encourage active participation living a sustainable lifestyle inspired by a positive attitude. We engage young and old from all walks of life through the Whale of a Time Community, the Whale of a Time Festival and the Whale of a Time Workshop. Our work has been recognised by many national and community and environmental awards schemes. People who participate in our events walk away with a "small footprint" and a big smile on their faces, feeling empowered to take action by making conscientious choices in their lives and participating actively in the protection of our planet.
The Whale of a Time Community is a platform where people from all walks of life join to share their inspirations for a better world and future generations to come. Our creative messages aim to reflect the beauty of nature. We believe that only if we feel, recognise and sense the true beauty of nature inside of us, we can appreciate what we have and have the will and passion to save it. Through our creative messages we hope to draw attention to important issues that have a huge environmental impact on our planet and our society. Our creative messages aim to express how we feel, how we see the world and what we care most about. If we like to see happiness and not suffering, we should first search for this feeling inside ourselves. This is where change really begins.
The Whale of a Time Workshop aims to encourage active participation living a sustainable lifestyle inspired by a positive attitude. Whale of a Time provides a creative platform for people from diverse backgrounds to join together and to embrace life from all parts of the world, to learn about precious life in need of protection in our oceans and the rainforests and find out about ways each one of us can make a difference to live a peaceful life in harmony with our unique life-supporting planet Earth. The Whale of a Time Workshop is a creative and educational event, where young and old are able to model whales and other endangered species out of clay, and at the same time learn about the environment, biodiversity and sustainability whilst having a whale of a time! It’s free to enjoy for all participants. The Whale of a Time Workshop is an attraction that can be hired for shows, at exhibitions, museums and festivals, and by schools and youth clubs.
